Edit: These flatbars have got to go. Don’t think I like em. Bullhorns or drops, here I come. Downtube shifters I’m still on the fence about – thus the Pauls Thumbies next to the brakes in case I want to switch. Getting those grips off is a bitch. Will ride it like this for a couple weeks though. Maybe I’m just not used to it.

Incidentally, these flat bars and downtube shifters aren’t going to stay. I just wanted to try it. First impressions are – it’s annoying. Mechanically, the bike is great.
Hey, nitto!
You gonna ride that this winter?
Thats the plan – with fenders. That and Bicycle Eater of course.
I love the flat bars. I am not sure I would ever be able to use downtube shifters, but SRAM makes great flatbar shifters. Mos Def my fave in the stable.
This is Deven, fatasian – yes?
Yes, and where can I send my $25?
Tonight at the race. Bring exact change, cuz I’m not making any.
Incidentally, this is what I’m using for shifters.
– no those fancy schmancy Sram doodads. =)
lolz, you need to patent that!
Nice bike! I came across the blog via google – I’ll be building a surly pacer very soon, and I like what you’ve done. Did you chop the fork at all or is that how long it is?
I did chop the steerer tube. Comes nice and long. Good job Surly!
