You’re supposed to mix this stuff with denatured alcohol to thin it out a bit and decrease dry times between coats, but I didn’t have any so did some testing last night by simple dipping. From left to right, synthetic cork, cork, and cloth tape. It doesn’t feel strange once dry – feels like you painted on a rubber coating is all. Once dry, it’s grippy but not tacky or sticky. It’s also sorta hard. Pictured below are 3 and 4 coats with relatively little time between coats – maybe an hour. And again, it’s unthinned – just stirred up and dipped into the can as-is.
There’s 3 coats:
And here’s four:
I’m going to do it on my Long Haul Trucker I’ve decided. Just need to pick up a little denatured alcohol is all. Hopefully will have it done before going to Portland this weekend for the hand built bike show.
